2000 Edition of its Yavapai and Coconino Countries Street & Road Atlas Phoenix, Arizona-Phoenix Mapping Service, the publishing division of Wide World of Maps, Inc., announces the release of the 2000 edition of its Yavapai and Coconino Counties Street & Road Atlas. This edition marks the first update of this popular street map book since 1998 and the first time ever that the atlas has been prepared digitally. According to company vice president James Willinger, "Even though we have been making maps of Yavapai and Coconino Counties since 1978, this is first time our maps of the area have been prepared digitally. The new digital work has more than 200 content layers, which provide greater accuracy and graphic flexibility to make new and better quality maps." With the help of the conversion to digital technology the atlas is now produced in colors that make it easier to read and identify features on the map. The process took thousands of hours for the staff of programmers, cartographers, artists and editors to complete. The new colorful maps cover more than 900 square miles of full detail mapping along with regional maps and special inset maps. In addition to the updated street maps, the atlas contains a comprehensive alphabetical street index that lists the location and map reference to more than 6,000 streets.
