Street Guide Offers Low Tech Solution for navigating valley streets
PHOENIX, AZ – To navigate Valley streets you don’t need a computer, software, the Internet or GPS. All you need is some basic knowledge of the street and address systems and an updated version of a simple $5.95 book.
Long before high-tech navigation solutions were invented, folks used a simple street guide book that is still popular today. The new, updated 2007 edition of Phoenix – Valley of the Sun Street Guide, published by Wide World of Maps, is now available. A large following of local users will be buying them for a low-tech and low-cost option to help navigate streets and freeways in Phoenix and the Valley of the Sun. More than half-a-million books have been sold since its introduction in 1975.
This small-format guide find its way into the glove boxes and onto dashboards of taxis, shuttles, delivery and construction vehicles, tow trucks, trash trucks, repair and service trucks, even police cars. It’s small enough to fit in a pocket, so real estate and insurance agents like them, as do traveling salespeople. Folks with the latest high-tech gadgets still buy them as a handy quicker reference to street and address locations. For the low price of $5.95, it makes a good back up to have in every vehicle.
Wide World of Maps President, James Willinger, reports that the book is completely updated. The 196-page book was expanded to include all 33 cities and towns that make up the Valley of the Sun. It lists streets alphabetically, shows which city(s) the street is in and the block number alignment of the street. The easy-to-follow instructions and helpful fold-out major street maps in the back of the book show how the addressing systems work in finding the location of streets and addresses.
