Wide World of Maps, Map Center & Gallery
PHOENIX, AZ – Customers actually thank Wide World of Maps for advertising. “I’ve been trying to find a map like this for years,” said one, “but I didn’t know where to get it.” The experience of a visit to the Phoenix, Mesa or Scottsdale Map Center and Gallery stores is unlike any other store. I’ll describe it as part book store, part museum store, travel store, outdoor gear store and art gallery. It’s easy to spend all day browsing. Each store has thousands of maps in stock and on display. They have topographic map and other maps for hiking, 4-wheeling, hunting and other outdoor activities. They have travel maps and guidebooks (as well as travel accessories) for everywhere you’d ever want to go in the USA or the world for that matter. At all three stores, find the largest selection of informative and decorative world globes you’ll ever see (notice the photo) along with a mind-boggling variety of wall maps displayed from floor to ceiling (many available laminated, mounted of beautifully framed to match home or office décor). They actually do all of these value added enhancements in a facility they call “d’SHOP”, located next to the store in Mesa. Take the kids along because they also have a children’s section with books, games, puzzles and other items that make learning geography fun. Yes, they have technology items too; for travel and navigation including a really large selection of GPS units, map software, digital compasses, binoculars, weather instruments and other helpful gadgets (along with knowledgeable staff that know how to use them too). Newcomers and visitors will find a complete selection of local street maps, county maps, forest, park and lake maps, guidebooks, field guides, books about Arizona and The West, even cookbooks and souvenir items. If you’re spending any time at all in the Phoenix area you’ll want to get one of the Yellow-1 Metropolitan Street Atlases, these are the street map authority used by most local businesses. They produce these map books themselves for most Arizona communities. Locally owned and operated since 1975, the Wide World of Maps, Map Center and Gallery stores are a shopping experience you just won’t find anywhere else.
